William Maggs

Redefining Broadway with Deaf Queer Artistry

William Maggs
Deaf Artist | Auslan Performer | Broadway Dreamer
Adelaide, South Australia

William Maggs is a boundary-pushing Deaf artist based in Adelaide, known for his powerful storytelling through various artistic mediums, including painting and live performance. Passionate about exploring the joys and struggles of being Deaf, William’s work speaks volumes beyond words, capturing the raw essence of Deaf identity, culture, and expression.

From a young age, William found solace and strength in painting, using colors and textures to share his thoughts and emotions with the world. His journey has since expanded into the realms of performance art and Auslan translation, where he has collaborated with groups such as The Bait Fridge, Adelaide Fringe, ACE Gallery, and the Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA). His dedication to accessibility in the arts has seen him work alongside poets and writers like VNS Matrix and Indigo Eli, bridging the gap between performance and inclusion.
